Filed under: General Outreach — mosaicoutreach @ 11:59 pm

Would you like to help provide snacks for kids attending a program called Core Academy at Mallard Creek High School?  This is a program for students who are at risk of failing and are receiving extra instruction twice a week after school.

We will be providing snacks for between 70 and 100 kids every Tuesday during March.  If you are interested in helping by buying something (no home made items, per CMS policy), please email outreach@mosaicchurch.tv.  You can bring items to church on that previous Sunday, or drop items by the Mosaic office before lunchtime that Tuesday.

Dominican Republic Mission Trip January 28, 2010

Filed under: Missions — mosaicoutreach @ 12:47 pm

On January 16th, Mosaic sent a mission team to the Dominican Republic.  They traveled into the central mountain range to the town of Jarabacoa to serve alongside the House Upon The Rock Ministry there.  The Ministry runs a medical clinic in the small village of Pedregal.  Part of their ministry is to help build and repair needy homes.  The Mosaic team was there to continue work on a new home for a widow in the village, Mila.  At the same time, they were able to build relationships within the community.

Help for Haiti January 17, 2010

Filed under: Missions — mosaicoutreach @ 12:45 pm

Here at Mosaic Church we saddened by the devastation in Haiti and want to help out as best we can.  Currently the biggest need is not for material items or volunteers, but for financial resources to aid the people and ministries already in place in Haiti who can help get needed food, water and medical supplies to the survivors.

If you would like to give financially, we suggest the following ministries that already have local connections in the country: www.watermissions.org (article) and www.missionaryflights.org

Here is a helpful article on charitable giving:  http://blog.charitynavigator.org/2010/01/tips-tips-and-more-tips-for-funding.html

Book Drive for Habitat for Humanity January 6, 2010

Filed under: Habitat — mosaicoutreach @ 12:54 pm

Julia’s Coffee  www.juliascoffee.org is a coffee shop and used book store that is a fund-raising program of the Habitat ReStore Charlotte. They receive books through donations and use the proceeds to fund building houses.  Because of the donations, they had book sales of over $105,000 last year and were able to fund an entire Habitat House!

From January 17th – 31st 2010, we will have donation bins at Mosaic each weekend to collect books for the Habitat bookstore.  We are collecting the following types of books:

  • paperback
  • hardcover
  • fiction/non-fiction
  • biographies
  • cookbooks
  • Children’s books

They do not accept encyclopedias, catalogs, magazines or out dated reference books.  Books should be in “like new” condition.

If you have additional questions, or would like to donate books directly to Habitat for Humanity, please contact Crista Ray at (704) 716-7040 ext 2232 or cray@charlottestore.org.

ClotheCharlotte December 3, 2009

Filed under: General Outreach — mosaicoutreach @ 1:32 am

ClotheCharlotte is a grassroots organization whose vision is to meet the need of every single homeless person in the city of Charlotte.  Last year they collected over 1100 clothing kits for men, women, and children consisting of coats, hats, and gloves.

While speaking with many of the shelters last year they realized a common need: sleeping bags.  ClotheCharlotte is responding to the needs of the shelters this year by pushing all of their efforts towards gathering 5000 sleeping bags.

They have various donation drop off sites in Charlotte (you can drop off at Mosaic on Sunday or at the Mosaic Office during the week) and plan to collect all the sleeping bags by Saturday Dec 12. There is a concert at Freedom Park on the 12th where they are working in conjunction with the Freedom Park Christmas Tree lighting. However, the distribution date is Dec 19th so they will keep collecting up to that date.

For more details on donation drop off sites, distribution info, the need for volunteers, etc., go to www.clothecharlotte.com
